Books and Letters

Writing has become a second career, with two books featuring reptiles and amphibians and another that is about mindfulness and nature (with Meghan Cassidy’s wonderful photos). Follow this link to see more information about those books.

I like the idea of writing letters, which is something that may be getting lost in the age of texts and emails. When you write a letter to someone, it is like you put down on paper thoughts that would be your part of a conversation if you were talking face to face. Letters can be personal – a place to lay out what is in your mind and heart. Texts are rarely like that; together with emails, they seem to be more like telegrams. “Meet you at Starbucks?” “IDK, gotta study.” Anyway, occasionally for the past few years I have been writing a “letter” to young people about nature. Follow the sub-page to have a look at Letters to Nature Kids and Letters From the Woods.

I also write for Green Source DFW with articles about wildlife and mindfulness. I have written about coexisting with coyotes, changes and accomplishments at Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge, venomous snakes, common backyard lizards, the land bridge (wildlife crossing) at Phil Hardberger park in San Antonio, and lots of other things.
